Editor review
Cascade Axis runs a colour-trace input over a hex grid. Each board has exactly one valid path from start to goal. The trace input snaps to adjacent hexes, which removes mis-click friction without dumbing down the puzzle.
What lifts this above the usual hex-trace category is the rule layering. From board fifteen onward, the boards introduce blocked-hex constraints, must-visit hexes, and direction-locked hexes. The rules stack rather than replace, and the late boards combine three or four rule types on a single board.
I worked through forty boards across multiple short sessions, mostly on a Manchester Manchester Metrolink commute. Each board runs three to six minutes at the mid-tier. The save resumes per-board.
The weakness is the colour palette. Some of the trace-colour and blocked-hex colour combinations are close to each other and slow recognition. A colour-blind mode would solve this. Four stars; the design holds up across the run and the palette choice is the only thing holding it back.
