Editor review
Ember Shoot is a fire-based arcade where you launch glowing embers at targets. Sixteen target patterns across two campaign zones. The format is the carnival shooting gallery digitised with fire effects.
What works is the trajectory visualisation. Each shot shows a faint preview of where the ember will land before firing. This makes the format approachable for new players without losing depth for experienced ones.
Sixteen target patterns across two zones. Patterns include static targets, moving targets, and exploding chain-targets. The variety is moderate but not extensive.
Tested over two Manchester Metrolink rides. Touch with drag-to-aim is the natural input. Mouse-drag also works fine.
Where the game starts to feel thin is the absence of any progression. No character upgrades, no unlock tree, no meta-progression. After clearing the sixteen patterns, there is no reason to return.
Where I would push back is the music. The same five-second loop plays throughout. Adding longer composed tracks would have made the format less repetitive over long sessions.
Three stars. Functional fire-themed arcade with thoughtful aim preview. Limited by lack of progression and repetitive music.
