Shadow Tap is a stealth-themed arcade where you tap on shadows to mark enemies for stealth takedowns. Forty levels across four shadow-themed environments. The format combines mobile-tap simplicity with stealth-game theming.
What works is the shadow-detection system. Shadow patches on each level are visible but moving. Enemies in shadow are vulnerable; enemies in light are protected. Reading shadow positions and timing taps to the patrol patterns is the format skill.
Forty levels with shadow patches shaped by light sources (candles, torches, windows). Each level has a fixed enemy patrol; learning the patterns is the progression.
Tested over three Manchester Central Library lunch breaks plus weekend Metrolink rides. Touch is the natural input. Mouse-click also works.
Where the format earns its three-and-a-half is the patrol-pattern variety. Each level has a unique enemy patrol that does not repeat across levels. The patterns reward observation more than reflexes.
Where I would push back is the absence of difficulty options. The format is calibrated for moderate-skill stealth-gamers. New players find it frustrating; veterans find it too easy. Adding difficulty modes would have widened the audience.
