Editor review
Crystal Vault is a heist-themed arcade where you collect crystals while avoiding laser-grid patterns. One hundred-and-twenty heist levels across six campaign chapters. The format is reminiscent of stealth-action arcades like Mark of the Ninja done at smaller browser scope.
What works is the laser-grid puzzle layer. Each heist has a fixed laser pattern that rotates on a timer. Reading the rotation and timing your movement through the gaps is the skill. Faster heist times score more points.
One hundred-and-twenty heist levels with six laser-pattern themes. Each theme introduces new laser behaviour (sweeping, blinking, multi-axis, chained). The variety keeps the format fresh.
Tested across maybe thirty hours over two months. Manchester Metrolink commutes plus several long weekend sessions at Manchester Central Library wifi corners. Touch with tap-and-move works fine. Mouse-and-keyboard is more precise.
Where the design earns its high rating is the leaderboard integration. Every heist time is tracked on a global leaderboard. Competing against ghost-runs of top players adds significant retention value.
Where I would push back is the absence of cooperative heists. The format would naturally suit two-player coordinated stealth. Single-player only feels limiting for a heist format.
Four-and-a-half stars. Strong stealth-arcade heist game with disciplined laser-grid puzzle design and leaderboard integration. Recommended for arcade fans without reservation.
